Ahmed Al Sewedy

Ahmed El Sewedy serves as the President and CEO of El Sewedy Electric Co. S.A.E. Since 1986, he has spearheaded the growth of the family business, managing the first private cable factory in Egypt, the Arab Cables Company, and transforming it into a global leader in energy solutions. With over thirty production facilities in sixteen countries, the company employs more than 14,000 workers, technicians, and engineers. It exports a wide range of high-quality and safe products to over 110 countries worldwide, including Africa, the Middle East, Europe, and the Far East. During his tenure, Ahmed El Sewedy has increased the business value nearly a hundred. El Sewedy Electric S.A.E. is listed on the Cairo Stock Exchange with assets of approximately $1.5 billion as of 2016. Today, El Sewedy Electric manufactures cables, transformers, insulators, meters, and constructions power generation, transmission, and distribution networks, in addition to managing solar power plants and wind farm components. Ahmed El Sewedy holds a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Cairo University, obtained in 1986, and has nearly thirty years of experience in the electrical and energy industries. He is the Chairman of the Egyptian-Chinese, Ethiopian, Zambian, Iraqi, and Lebanese Business Councils, and a member of the Business Councils for South Africa, Tunisia, Algeria, Kenya, Austria, Kuwait, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia. He also plays an active role as a member of the American and French Chambers of Commerce, serves on the board of the German and American Chambers of Commerce, is a member of the Egyptian Business Association, and is the Vice Chairman of the Egyptian Food Bank and the El Sewedy Foundation, among many other business and non-profit organizations.

About El Sewedy Technical Academy

The El Sewedy Technical Academy was established in 2011 to align with El Sewedy Electric factories, as a commitment from the El Sewedy Electric Foundation to community development and industry service through the enhancement of technical education and vocational training systems in Egypt and the region. The Academy offers specialized technical education and vocational training in major industries according to the latest international standards for 1,200 students at two schools in the city of 10th of Ramadan. The Academy provides vocational training programs in collaboration with industry partners and international partners to enhance the efficiency of the current workforce, and also contributes to reducing unemployment by training the unemployed, improving job opportunities, creating equal opportunities, and empowering women. It is planned to reach 10,000 beneficiaries (students and trainees) in Egypt and Africa by 2025.
